What is The Simon Foundation for Continence

What is The Simon Foundation for Continence

If you suffer from bladder or bowel incontinence, you are not alone. Millions of people around the world face the same challenge and often feel isolated and embarrassed by their condition, but there is hope and help available.

One of the organizations that can provide you with valuable support and information is The Simon Foundation for Continence.

The Simon Foundation for Continence is the world’s oldest patient-led organization devoted exclusively to incontinence. It was founded in 1982 by Cheryl B. Gartley, who experienced incontinence herself and realized the need for more awareness and advocacy on this issue. The mission of the Foundation is to bring the topic of incontinence out into the open, remove the stigma surrounding it, and provide help and hope to people with incontinence, their families and the health professionals who provide their care.

The Foundation offers a variety of resources and services to help you manage your incontinence and improve your quality of life. Some of these include:

  • Education materials and items for ordering or downloading, such as brochures, books, videos and podcasts.
  • A list of important organizations and resources related to bladder and bowel health, such as support groups, associations, websites and blogs.
  • A calendar of meetings and conferences on incontinence and related topics.
  • An online support community where you can connect with others who have similar experiences and share your stories, questions and tips.
  • A newsletter with the latest research, industry, medical and scientific news on incontinence.

The Simon Foundation for Continence also organizes events and campaigns to raise awareness and promote continence. For example, it participates in the World Continence Week every year, which aims to improve health, wellness and quality of life for people with incontinence.

The Simon Foundation recognizes INNOVO as 'the first-in-class wearable, non-invasive solution for Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI), INNOVO has the potential to positively impact the lives of one in three women. These women will now be able to laugh louder, exercise harder and even sneeze with ease. The INNOVO thigh-length, elasticized therapeutic shorts are outfitted with eight electrodes sewn in a crisscross formation across the pelvic region. When activated via its attached hand-held controller, INNOVO delivers a series of pelvic stimulations equivalent to Kegel exercises for strengthening the pelvic floor.'

Don’t let incontinence stop you from living your life to the fullest. If you want to learn more about The Simon Foundation for Continence and how it can help you or someone you care about, visit their website at www.simonfoundation.org and discover a world of support, information and hope.
