As we head into the holiday season, you may have a few parties and gatherings on the agenda. Fun, for sure—but also scary. Parties often mean drinking, and drinking means a higher likelihood for leakage if you’re dealing with stress urinary incontinence (SUI). And we can all agree that peeing in your party pants isn’t exactly a great way to embrace the festivities.
Alcohol can stimulate the bladder and lead to more leaking issues. It can also act as a diuretic, making you produce more urine—not exactly what you want if you struggle with holding your pee in.
But sticking to water during a party? Snooze. Instead, whip up one of these non-alcoholic beverages—we’ve got a hot and cold option!
Mulled Cider
- (12 Servings)
- 6 cups unfiltered apple juice
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- ⅛ tsp ground cloves
- 4 slivers of orange peel
- 4 slivers of lemon peel
Place everything in a pot together and bring to a boil. Immediately lower the heat and let the mixture simmer for 30 minutes. Remove from heat and serve in a mug with sliced apple as a garnish.
Fizzy Cranberry
- (1 Serving)
- 3 ounces cranberry seltzer (plain is fine, too)
- 3 ounces cranberry juice
- Splash of lime juice
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
Mix the sugar and cinnamon together in a shallow dish. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip the rim in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Fill your glass with ice. Add the cranberry juice, seltzer and splash of lime juice. Gently stir and enjoy!
