What does using INNOVO feel like?

INNOVO uses Neuromuscular Electrical Muscle Stimulation (NEMS) therapy to deliver 180 perfect pelvic floor contractions in each 30 minute session as a way of targeting the root cause of bladder weakness – a weak pelvic floor.

INNOVO’s clinically proven, and patented Multipath technology delivers a long-lasting solution to bladder weakness and features 8 large integrated EMS electrodes on the inside of a pair of easy to pull on shorts.

What is Neuromuscular Electrical Muscle Stimulation (NMES)?

Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation, or NMES, is a controlled electrical pulse that causes muscles to contract, while strengthening the targeted area. INNOVO uses these gentle pulses to strengthen the pelvic floor, however other NMES therapies are also often used for pain relief or for aesthetic muscle strengthening (i.e. ab belts).

If you’ve never used an NMES therapy before, you may be unsure of what sensation to expect. What does NMES stimulation actually feel like? Is it painful?

We get this question so often, so we asked real INNOVO customers just like you, to describe what using INNOVO feels like, in their own words.

But first, here’s what you SHOULD be feeling

As you increase the intensity on the controller you will start to feel a tingling sensation followed by your pelvic floor lifting and releasing. You may need to increase the intensity level on the controller to above 30 before you feel this within the pelvic floor.

With an effective pelvic floor contraction, you will feel a sensation of “squeezing”, “tightening” and or “lifting up” between your legs. You should feel little or no activity on the front and sides of the legs. As you become familiar with the sensation you should increase the intensity level over time to reach the optimum level for your sizing. You shouldn’t feel any pain or discomfort and should choose an intensity level that is comfortable for you.

These were the most common terms used by customers to describe what INNOVO feels like:

  • Relaxing
  • Stimulating
  • Massage
  • Gentle Pulses
  • Tightening
  • Tingly

“Easy, no pain or discomfort”

“Sometimes at the start it will tingle, once the power is up the muscles will start to tense and relax”.

“Thought it would be uncomfortable, but I find it quite relaxing”

“Stimulating, but at the same time, relaxing”

“A little prickly to begin with, then like a deep massage”

“It feels quite pleasant. I stand and watch television and find it quite relaxing. The time passes quickly”.
